Lease solar system: Energy supplier EWE supports homeowners

Energy services provider EWE wants to support homeowners in their future private energy transition and offers the option of renting a solar system. The photovoltaic system with inverter, electricity storage and optionally a wall box for charging electric vehicles can be easily rented from January 1, 2023.
The new EWE ZuhauseSolar Pacht model will allow solar power systems to be easily leased from January 1, 2023. The expensive acquisition costs of solar technology are thus eliminated. In this way, the energy supplier wants to support private homes in the energy transition and offers a complete system consisting of a photovoltaic system with inverter and electricity storage, as well as an optional wall box for charging electric vehicles.
Over a contractually agreed 20 years, the parties involved pay a fixed monthly amount to EWE, which then also undertakes the task of installing and operating the solar system.
“Leasing the system makes it possible to generate, use and store clean energy on your own. Thus, private energy transition and private property modernization can be developed.”Andy Satzer, a solar and storage expert from energy services provider EWE, said in the press release.
Especially in view of the high cost of electricity, but also to lease the expansion of renewable energy, the photovoltaic system makes absolute sense of course. Renting a solar system saves about 30 percent on electricity costs. Combined with the electricity storage system, the annual electricity demand can now be covered up to 70 percent.
The power provider remains the owner of the solar system for more than 20 years, which should lower the threshold for discouragement due to the high upfront costs of leasing. The customer becomes the operator, can use the solar energy and also receives the corresponding reward from the network operator when the power is fed to the grid.
After 20 years, there is the option to take over the solar system from EWE. Alternatively, the system can be completely disassembled. Customers shall only perform the service and maintenance of the solar system.
“We offer an optional service and maintenance contract for the lease accordingly, so the lease becomes a carefree package for your personal energy transition,” Andy Satser continues.
According to EWE, the solar rental model is suitable for all private homes. The company initially provides service in its home regions in northwest Germany, in Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. However, other regions will soon follow.
