Frisco – Dallas Cowboys’ newest offensive lineman Jason Peters spent the weekend renewing his bond with Jerry Jones, looking to forge a relationship with Tom Brady, and is passionate about helping the Cowboys back home…
In the end.
“As much as[being]in good shape, I’ve been doing cardio and lifting,” said Peters, a nine-time Pro Bowler who avoided any NFL training camp this summer. And the helmet, so that’s what I’m going to do for the first two weeks.”
The Cowboys will be waiting for the longtime Philadelphia Eagles star, who has officially made a deal with Dallas that will see him stay on the coaching squad as he progresses, and eventually reads to be the swing deal and maybe more. In the meantime, he’ll direct starter left tackle Tyler Smith, who’s stepping in for injured Tyrone Smith.
Peters said of his teaching advice to Tyler, “Keep your nose clean and things on and off the court. I’m going to help him. I helped him a little bit today, just trying to get his technique and all that stuff in rhythm.”
Peters trained with the Cowboys here at The Star on Monday, slipping into his familiar number 71—albeit with unfamiliar colors. Over the years speaking from Philadelphia, he spoke boldly about the “arrogance of Team America” in Dallas — comments that crawled a bit on Monday.
“Man, I don’t call it arrogance,” Peters said, trying to explain. “I mean, they had bragging, (which is) pretty much the same.”
Old Truth: Other men are ‘vag’; They are our self-confident men.

Peters won’t brag about his stuff Sunday night in the opening game against visiting Tampa Bay. But he does feel a kinship with Bucs QB Tom Brady, 45.
“I’m just trying to set standards for up-and-coming youth,” Peters said. “If you love the game and you want to keep playing, I show them that you can do it instead of letting the league lose you. I am living testimony that you can keep going. Tom and I, we are just setting the bar.”
This is a special club. This is inhabited by Jerry Jones, owner of Peters and Cowboys. They are truly two of the biggest and most powerful names in University of Arkansas football history.
So, what is Jerry’s closing goal to get Jason Peters to join the “arrogant” cowboys?
“Mn, go pigs!” Peters said.
