Frequently Asked Questions

Can I create my own Reel template?

Not when using the Instagram app. However, if you use a service like Canva, you can create a reel template from scratch and use it as many times as you like. You get access to a library of elements that you can combine to create your own template. You can easily adjust it later if you feel the need for a little variety.

Can I use an Instagram Story template to create a reel?

You may have noticed that there is an abundance of apps in the Play Store and App Store that are designed to help you create great stories. It is possible to use these story templates to create reels. The only problem is that they might end up being a little on the static side. This is not always necessarily the case. For example, StoryArt (Android iOS) has many options for animated story templates, as well as some custom Reels options.

Can I upload a reel from my desktop computer?

Technically you can’t, but with the help of a handy Chrome extension called INSSIST, you’ll be able to from the comfort of your browser. If you create a reel with video editing software, you don’t have to transfer it to your mobile device. Note that it is possible to upload videos from a computer – just like posts, not reels.
